Project Description
SaltaMuri was established to tackle all forms of discrimination and promote a culture of coexistence, an open place of gathering where people working in the educational field can exchange ideas and share materials and educational paths to face the great challenges of our time. In practice, SaltaMuri is an inter-association table born in 2018 on initiative of the Educational Cooperation Movement to promote positive educational actions for hospitality, democratic coexistence and peace.
The initiative originates from a widespread concern for the growth of verbal violence, exclusionary languages, induced stereotypes, incitements to discrimination, a culture of aggression and the stigmatization of human groups that does not spare even children. It calls the educating community, which includes teachers, educators, parents and the whole civil society, to act as protagonist and puts the school at the centre of democracy and cultural promotion, a place of open coexistence capable of countering disintegrating tensions and divisive visions. The “SaltaMuri” table is now made up of 133 groups and associations and is open to contributions from educators, teachers and schools.
The Pianoterra Foundation has joined SaltaMuri from the beginning, supporting its dissemination and communication activities and contributing to the development of an archive of inclusive teaching experiences which can be accessed from the website www.saltamuri.it.
