Project Description
Since 1997, the Festivaletteratura of Mantua has been one of the most anticipated Italian cultural events of the year: five days of meetings with authors, readings, guided tours, shows, concerts with artists from all over the world, who gather in the Lombard city to live in an unforgettable atmosphere. Over the years the festival program has expanded and diversified, to capture and reflect through the lens of literature the many facets and changes underway in the country and in the world.
“Passports” is part of this expansion: a space within the Festival program explicitly dedicated to young people who explore, through their points of view and with the creative and expressive tools closest to them, the transformations of the society in which we live with increasingly complex identities also due to the progressive visibility of people from different cultural and geographical contexts.
The project involves the participation of a group of young and very young people in artistic-expressive workshops aimed at creating original contributions included in the festival program. The group is led by a team of writers who reflect this multiplicity: Espérance Hakuzwimana Ripanti, Leila Belhadj Mohamed, Nadeesha Uyangoda, Anna Osei, Abdullahi Ahmed, Laeticia Ouedraogo.
The Pianoterra Foundation supported “Passports” for the 2021 edition of the festival.
